Conscious Kid Clothing Brands

It's been a minute since I've added any new posts here. Where has the time gone? Theo had his first kindergarten play date yesterday to get ready for the new school year. Kindergarten! It feels like a big milestone.

If you are back-to-school shopping like I am, I thought I would share my favorite conscious kid's clothing brands here. I know ethical and sustainable brands are often more expensive, but not always. I've included more budget-friendly brands here, too. I'd rather buy Theo fewer clothes (he wears the same things over and over). Plus, I find that the quality is so good, these clothes last longer. Just buy them a little big in the beginning and they will last for over a year. Also, be sure and check the websites soon--most of these brands are currently running sales.

I fully intended to post my intentions in January, but here we are. It’s March, my birthday month, and I’m just getting around to posting the intentions that Elie and I set in January. Such is pandemic life, I guess.

Yes, this Christmas season looks different. But some things are the same. Like, my friend Sarah's thoughtful and evocative reflections during advent, which I look forward to every year. And, how we can still find meaning and joy during this time, even in very small ways. If you are hurting and grieving right now, I am praying for you. I you are someone who can offer comfort or prayers, I am with you. We are all in this together.

Just like last year, we started reading Christmas books and decorating for Christmas weeks before Thanksgiving. Theo went into the attic a couple of weeks ago and pulled out his little Christmas tree, and his room is already decorated with felted reindeer and garland. Perhaps this year, we need an extended season of joy more than ever.

Hello friends! It has been a long time since I've posted here, but I have been busily working on a lot of fun projects this summer, including the development of a newsletter. Every few weeks, I will send out an easy seasonal recipe, a couple of my favorite recent finds, and any interesting books or podcasts I've read or listened too, lately. It will be short and sweet, and hopefully useful. If you'd like to stay in touch more regularly, please sign up here.

I will continue to post longer content on this site. Some of the things I'm working on right now include Theo's four year update (so late!) and my holiday gift guides. In the meantime, I am sending you all hugs during this very strange time in history. xo, Lisa

I was listening to the Ten Percent Happier podcast yesterday with Roshi Joan Halifax, and it left me in tears. Not necessarily sad tears, but tears of empathy. We are in a radical state of uncertainty, and what matters right now is love. Grief teaches us how much we love.

When the Covid crisis began, I started doing 'loving kindness' meditations, where you give compassion to yourself and to others through a series of repeated mantras. I am not a meditation master, and I've struggled to maintain a practice over the years, but the loving kindness meditation has settled on me during this time. We are all connected. If nothing else, this pandemic has taught us that.

May you be safe. May you be happy. May you be healthy. May you live with ease.

I have not read a single book since we started our stay-at-home confinement. I just can't get my mind to slow down enough to focus on a story. By the time Theo goes to bed at night, I'm so tired. Having a four-year-old during this time means you're never bored, but you're never resting.

Since we're well over a month into this stay-at-home time, we've discovered a rhythm to our days that feels good. Like most children, Theo thrives on routine, and so keeping a loose schedule without being rigid has been good for us.
